We’ve Earned A Stellar Reputation

Welcome to West County Radiological Group (WCRG), the St. Louis region’s leading imaging experts. Since 1969, we have been serving St. Louis County and the surrounding area through our partnership with the Mercy Health System and their affiliated imaging centers. We continue to expand and have recently added services within the Mercy Health System to southeast Kansas and Oklahoma.

West County Radiological Group is the largest private radiology practice in the St. Louis area. With a team of over 80 physicians, we proudly provide patients with diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology services. WCRG has a fully staffed medical physics group, providing diagnostic and radiation therapy services for a variety of facilities throughout Missouri. Throughout our history, we’ve always placed great value on providing convenient, compassionate, and accurate care in St. Louis and surrounding communities.

Board Certified Physicians Provide Expert Care

Since 1969, WCRG has been a trusted source of expertise for interventional radiology, diagnostic radiology, and radiation oncology. All of our physicians are certified by the American Board of Radiology and belong to the American College of Radiology (ACR). That means they have earned a reputation as experts in medical imaging diagnostic and radiation therapy services.

A Hospital-Based Radiology Group

West County Radiological Group is a hospital-based radiology group. Currently, we serve the following:

  • Five Mercy Health System Hospitals in the St. Louis region
  • Five Mercy Health System Hospitals in Oklahoma

Because our radiologists do not own imaging centers or equipment, we have no conflicts of interest or reasons to suggest unnecessary follow-up studies. We place great value in compassionate care that includes treating patients with courtesy, respect, and understanding.

Our goals are to provide imaging results to your referring physician with an excellent turnaround time, make them readily available through your electronic medical record, and alert your physician with urgent findings.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns, or comments. You are very important to us, and we appreciate your feedback.

Our Mission

West County Radiological Group exists to provide the highest quality services in medical imaging, radiation oncology, and medical physics as an independent private practice group.

Our Vision

To be the premier provider of advanced medical imaging, radiation oncology, and medical physics services through the Midwest by employing a dedicated staff of highly trained professionals using the latest technologies. We will strive to deliver efficient, patient-focused, and compassionate healthcare.

Helping Patients for Decades

In 1963, Dr. Thomas Maher was one of the first physicians in the group and received the contract to provide radiology services for St. John’s Mercy Hospital (now Mercy Hospital St. Louis). At the time, St. John’s was moving from Euclid and Parkview in the Central West End to the growing suburbs of West St. Louis County. It was also a time when radiology was still in its infancy. Radiologists performed procedures using plain radiography and ultrasound.

Six years later, in 1969, Dr. Maher incorporated West County Radiological Group. As the group grew and technology advanced, the practice added new modalities, including CT and MRI. Although WCRG began as a group of general diagnostic radiologists, the practice soon became a group of general radiologists with subspecialty training. Over the years, West County Radiology expanded to include nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, and medical physics into the group.

A Dedicated Administrative Staff

In addition to our physicians, we have a team of dedicated, hard-working professionals committed to providing you with best-in-class service. In 2006, we started offering professional billing services so patients could realize cost savings. In 2010, we began offering these services to other radiation oncology and radiology practices.

As we look to the future, we are excited to continue our long tradition of providing high-quality services to patients and referring physicians.
